Al Islami was established in 1981 by the Dubai Co-operative Society, which helped coordinate Islamic supervision on all meat products imported from outside the UAE. Al Islami quickly gained the trust of millions of consumers through its first product line - frozen chicken - across the UAE and the Gulf. Spurred on by this success, Al Islami continued its efforts to produce a variety of halal meat products like mutton, beef, burgers, sausages, kebabs, minced meat and more.
In 1991, Dubai Co-operative Society established the first fully owned meat processing plant in the Jebel Ali Free Zone. Hitherto, food products were produced outside the country under Al Islami representative supervision, but with the commissioning of this breakthrough plant it was now possible to produce a variety of halal food products under the name Al Islami within the United Arab Emirates. Since then, the plant has widened its product portfolio, and using state-of-the-art technology, continues to add new, high-quality products to satisfy the growing needs of the consumers' tastes. These include Halal-certified Feta White Cheese, Glass Cheese, Portion Cheese, Slice Cheese, Mozzarella, Halloumi Cheese, and more.
